Spanish airport staff to strike
Security staff at Alicante airport will be striking this month through to January next year. The strikes will mean longer wait times for all travellers flying to and from Alicante.
So, if you’re jetting off to Spain for a spot of winter sun, it’s worth checking your travel dates against any striking action as it may take a little longer to get through the airport:
1-10, 12, 15-17, 19, 22-31 December 2023
1-14 January 2024
If you do face any disruption on your travels, here’s how travel insurance can help.
World’s largest cruise to set sail
The world’s largest ship, very aptly named “Icon of the Seas’ will be setting off from Miami to cruise around the Caribbean in January 2024.
The ship is so big that it’s divided into eight different neighbourhoods – there’s even townhouses to stay in!
Across the 18 passenger decks you’ll find 40 restaurants to tuck into and seven swimming pools to make a splash in. If you’re a bit of a thrill seeker there’s also the world’s largest cruise ship water park onboard
It’s also the Royal Caribbean’s greenest ship, so if you’re looking to travel more sustainably then it’s the cruise for you!
Is boarding your flight about to get speedier?
Airlines in the US are trying out some new ways to speed up boarding to save time and cut flight delays.
Music in tunnels and flight bridges
If a boogie down the aisle sounds like your thing then book a flight with Southwest Airlines. They’ll be playing music as you make your way to your seat – research has shown that music makes us move quicker!
Window seat passengers to board first
In a bid to get you ready for take-off quickly, United Airlines have started to board window seat passengers first. They’ve seen less grappling for luggage space, which has saved time on each flight.
It also means an improved service for travellers. Arriving a couple of minutes earlier can make all the difference between catching or missing a connecting flight.
