Wine tasting and cruising combine
New for 2024, Sail Croatia are launching their new Wines of Croatia cruise. Here’s your chance to learn about the fine wines of the Dalmatia coast, while sailing in absolute luxury. What’s not to like?
After setting off from Dubrovnik, you’ll port at the Dalmatian Islands of Mljet, Korcula, Vis, Hvar and Brac before finishing in the historically rich city of Split.
As you’d expect, there’s plenty of wine-related stops, including a wine Jeep safari on Brac, sipping wine on the Stari Grad Plains in Hvar and visiting the world’s only winery in a military tunnel in Vis.

Faster airport check-ins using biometric tech
For the first time in Europe, Frankfurt Airport is giving passengers the choice of checking into their flights using biometric technology.
It’s hoped the move will speed up check-in time and become the standard for airports across Europe.
By signing up through an app, your face becomes your boarding pass. Instead of queuing with your passport, a camera in each checkpoint will scan your face and recognise you automatically.
If you’re not so keen on the idea, don’t worry! Traditional check-in at security will still be available.
European hotels blame Paris for their bed bugs
Earlier this month people all across Paris took to social media to post videos of bed bug infestations. Shortly after a hotel in Athens had to close after an outbreak of the blood-sucking insects. Since then they’ve continued to spread, reaching Spain and now the UK.
Bed bugs have been making a comeback all across the world. Their resistance to insecticides makes them incredibly hard to remove or stop spreading.
If you are travelling through known infested areas or are worried about picking up pesky hitchhikers, here are some tips on avoiding bed bugs.
- Use hard cased luggage where possible, bed bugs like fabric.
- Pack your clothes inside sealable bags, inside your luggage.
- Ask your hotel about their bed bug policy.
- Inspect your room and it’s furniture before you unpack.
- Unpack in a bright, elevated area and inspect your clothes as you go.
