A crack down on airline extras
The UK government has pledged to crack down on what they call the “drip pricing” of extras when booking a flight.
It’s common practice among budget airlines. You think you’re getting a good deal on your flight, only to be stung once baggage and seat allocation fees are added!
Here’s a look at how much airlines are currently charging for baggage, as well as the cost for securing your chosen seats. Seat allocation fees can reach £40 each-way for a spot at the front of the plane with easyJet!
Although, top tip – even if you don’t pay for allocated seats many airlines will sit families, especially those with younger children, close to each other.
So, will paying to sit next to your loved ones be a thing of the past? Time will tell!
Venice set to ban large crowds
Planning a trip to Venice this summer? New rules may affect how you explore the city.
In an attempt to make life better for the locals, Venice has proposed new ways to reduce the nuisance caused by hordes of tourists that visit every year. The plans include restricting travel groups to no more than 25 people, and the use of loudspeakers will also be banned.
Venice has also recently shared plans to introduce a day-tripper fee of €5 per person, aimed at encouraging longer visits. This fee will apply to visits during 29 peak days, between April and July.
