Keep reading to find out what travel insurance you can get when waiting for a diagnosis.
Have a read through these questions, and if you can answer “yes” to all of them, we may be able to cover you even if you’re awaiting a diagnosis or surgery:
✔ You’re fit and able to undertake your planned trip.
✔ You’re NOT going against the advice of a doctor (or would be if you’d asked)
✔ You are NOT travelling with the intention of getting medical treatment, tests or consultation abroad.

If you’re still waiting on a diagnosis, or awaiting test results, you don’t have to hit pause on that holiday you were planning. There’s a chance we might be able to cover your trip.
We could still cover you for other medical claims (not related to pre-existing medical conditions) or non-medical related claims such as travel delays, damaged baggage, lost money, passports and more.
We just won’t be able to cover you for any claims relating to any of your pre-existing medical conditions that are a result of your claim.

If you are awaiting surgery and the procedure is listed above, we can cover you for all sections of the policy, apart from Cancellation and Curtailment (cutting your trip short).
You will not be covered for any claims if you need to cancel or cut your trip short as a result of your pre-existing health condition or procedure that you are waiting to be signed off by the doctor awaiting a procedure for.
You can still be covered for medical claims that are not related to your pre-existing conditions.
If you’re still waiting to be signed off by your doctor from your procedure, we can cover you for all sections of the policy, except for medical and repatriation expenses arising as a result of the procedure you are awaiting to be signed off from.
You can still be covered for medical claims that are not related to your pre-existing conditions.
Full cover will be provided except for medical and repatriation expenses arising as a result of, or related to, the procedure you are awaiting to be signed off from.”
If you’re still awaiting a surgery/procedure or to be signed off by your doctor from a procedure that is not on the list above, you will not be covered for Cancellation or Curtailment (cutting your trip short) or Repatriation (getting you back to the UK in an emergency) as a result of the condition that you’re awaiting a procedure for.
Claims relating to your pre-existing health conditions will not be covered. But, you can still be covered for medical claims that are not related to your pre-existing conditions.
It’s a condition of cover that if you’re awaiting sign off or follow ups relating to a procedure that you make sure:
If you have any undiagnosed symptoms, we can offer you travel insurance but can’t cover you for anything related to any of your pre-existing health conditions. Don’t worry, we’d still be able to cover you for things like lost luggage, flight delays and medical emergencies not related to any of your pre-existing health conditions or undiagnosed symptoms.
The level of cover you can get will depend on where you are in your diagnosis and treatment journey.
